Just Left Haiti

I left Haiti yesterday afternoon and drove to Santo Domingo. It is about a 7 hour drive and we arrived here late. Was great to get a hot shower and sleep in a bed. But at the same time knowing my pleasure was kinda selfish knowing my friends are still there but we all did it because we know it is the right thing to do. Sure wish I was able to do more to help all the wonderful people fro Haiti I meet. It is a trip I know I will never forget. When I get home tonight or tomorrow I will upload a lot more pics and some links to what we were doing there. If you can we need to help the people of Haiti.....They really need it and are such hard working people and deserve it. Don't get me wrong I cant wait to get home and relax some....More to come soon.....JB

Haiti Day 6

It has been a hell of a ride here. Seen things I will never forget for the good and the bad. There have been stories of amazing good and sadness. Went to a real nice french place for dinner last night and you would never know there was all the destruction outside the walls as we enjoyed the first good meal since we got here. Hope to get our new Internet Satellite here today from the DR and get it running tonight. Could be a late night but it will be so worth it to get that step over with. We have been bless with a great local staff the is working countless hours along side us to get out radio show out everyday. Along with that helping us get a landscape of the local media and people.

Here are 2 videos on YouTube showing some stories we did here:

This picture was taken as we entered Haiti from the DR. Such a cool lake. There were people all over the place that have fled from the earthquake effected areas. Second one is a school that was destroyed in Port-au-Prince.

I wont press my Internet luck and try to do more...And as all of you know me I'm sure there are spelling and grammar errors so don't correct me...lol....More to come...Later....JB

Haiti....Day 4

Today was a productive day for all of us. We produces our 3rd radio show and it is being played on about a dozon stations around Port au Prince. I was able to get some mapping done between internet outages and people needing stuff installed on there computers. SO hope to get more done in the next few days. Our new Sat system will be here on Tuesday so Ill be able to upload some pics then I hope....Later....JB

First 3 days in Haiti

The first day of this trip was spent traveling to the Dominican Republic. I arrived at about 1130pm and found a cab to get me to the hotel. Got into this lovely about circa 1983 Caprice.....lol. Wasn't sure it was going to stay on the road and when he pushed the brakes it sounded like he was mashing on a wet sponge. After about 3-4 hours of sleep we headed out to Haiti. It was a nice 8 hour drive. Felt good to be on the road and not locked down like in Kabul. After arriving in Haiti it was clear we were going to have out work cut out for us. Spent the first day here getting the office setup and visiting the UN. Today was back to the UN and then I went to a local TV station to lend them a hand. Was going to post pics but they wont upload...Internet is to slow I guess.

Heading to Haiti

I have been home for a few days and have enjoyed it so much. But Ill be heading to Haiti on the 19th for 10 days to help out in anyway I can. I will return on the 29th and extend my vacation at home and then spend all the time I can with my family.

One more post

Just got our office setup. Here are a few pics of it.

Going home

I was sitting here and just realized I have been in Afghanistan for 7 and a half months without being home. In 30 hours Ill be at the Airport waiting on the first of 3 flights that will take me home. So I'm sure this will be my last post from here until I get back.

Tech Dinner Pics

This was a great time for all of us.....but what a mess afterwards....lol

We were missing a few but the party must go on. Everyone was to bring a side dish and we had quite the choice to choose from.
